Police are calling for information from the public after a light plane crashed on the NSW Mid North Coast earlier this month, killing the passenger and pilot.

The light plane crashed into the ocean about 1.5km south-east of Nambucca Heads on January 4 at 4pm.

The pilot, aged 67, and passenger, aged 69, both died in the crash.

Police are calling for any witnesses to contact detectives as they try to piece together the cause of the crash and deaths.

They are asking for anyone who may have found debris from the aircraft to hand it in to the authorities.

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the plane is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
