His family launched an online fundraiser to help cover the $40,000 needed for brain surgery and $50,000 to $100,000 for a medical evacuation flight to Australia.

More than $135,000 has been raised in total, surpassing the $120,000 goal.

The top donation was $40,000 by an anonymous user.

The family in an update told the anonymous donor that they “are in tears of thanks for your generosity”.
