Fuming homeowners claim a Western Australian builder has left them with unfinished homes.

Customers of Flexible Homes say they’re struggling to contact the company, which recently came under new ownership.

New owner Christopher Platt told 9News he planned to take the company into administration.

“This all is getting too stressful,” he said.

“This was never meant to be this way, but now with all the media and negativity, it would be impossible for me to run the company.

“Furthermore, there was never any misleading to any of the clients, who signed with another builder as Flexible Homes was subcontractor to them.”

Single mother Brooke Fitzsimmons signed with Flexible Homes in 2021.

She said she should be choosing furniture but was instead counting the cost of long delays.

“When we signed the contract, we were excited to have a home to raise my son in and two years later we have no end in sight,” she said.

Her situation was made worse by news the company had changed hands, leaving her in limbo.

“It’s just an email, they won’t give us an address, they won’t give us a phone number, they won’t give us anything,” she said.

The couple further claimed they were misled, signing a contract with Flexible Homes only to discover they were actually contracted to another builder, who’s since cut ties.

“Who’s going to tell us it’s a different company we signed our contract with and who’s going to tell us they’ve terminated the contract between them, so we didn’t know anything about this,” Goyal said.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen, when we will get our house, if we get our house or not.”

Flexible Homes former co-director Pavreet Singh said clients were “fully aware” upon signing contracts who they were building with.

Increasing costs and labour shortages were to blame for long delays and his decision to step down, he said.

Regulator Building and Energy said it was “aware of concerns”.

“This is a high priority investigation and asking affected customers to lodge a complaint if they haven’t already,” a spokesperson said.
