Andy Cohen Calls On Peacock To Cast Him In ‘Friday Night Lights’ Reboot: “How Can You Pass On Such Talent?!”

Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose — unless you’re Andy Cohen, who still hasn’t been asked to play the role of Coach Eric Taylor in Peacock‘s highly anticipated Friday Night Lights reboot.

Cohen, who is a big fan of the early aughts teen drama, addressed the reboot news at the end of Wednesday night’s (Dec. 11) episode of Watch What Happens Live while giving his “Mazel” and “Jackhole” of the day.

“Tonight’s jackhole goes to the fact that Peacock is rebooting one of my favorite shows, Friday Night Lights. I am so excited about that,” he said. “But inexplicably, nobody has reached out to me with an offer to play Coach Taylor, despite the fact that I have publicly auditioned for playing this role on this very show many times.”

Producers then cut to a clip of Cohen reenacting the role, originated by Kyle Chandler, with Connie Britton, who famously played Coach Taylor’s wife Tammy through all five seasons.

Cohen put on his Dillon Panthers coaching uniform once again during an August episode of Watch What Happens Live as he reenacted a scene between Coach Taylor and Matt Saracen with actor Zach Gilford, who portrayed the latter in the series.

“Respectfully, how can you pass on such talent?!” Cohen playfully asked. “I will be waiting by my phone during the holidays, Peacock.”

Deadline reported earlier this week that Peacock beat out Netflix in a heated bidding war for the reboot, which comes from original showrunner Jason Katims, original director Peter Berg, and producer Brian Grazer.

Now in development, the series will follow a “rag tag high school football team” and their “damaged, interim coach” as they make an “unlikely bid” for a Texas High School State Championship following a devastating hurricane, per Deadline.

Now, all they need to do is cast Cohen as the high school football coach. He already has the costume!

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
