Five people are in hospital with serious injuries after a horror crash in Brisbane’s south-west overnight.

Initial reports suggest a Mercedes-Benz and a Toyota Landcruiser collided at the intersection of Renoir Crescent on Forest Lake Boulevard in Forest Lake about 10.10pm yesterday.

The 28-year-old male driver of the Mercedes-Benz, his two 22-year-old male passengers, and a 20-year-old female passenger were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The 52-year-old female driver of the Landcruiser was also transported to hospital in a serious condition.

It’s understood two remain in hospital in serious condition while three others are now in stable condition.

Dr Steven Rashford from Queensland Ambulance Service said extensive resources were required for the crash including five ambulances and two critical care paramedics.

“This is a very high-impact crash involving five patients,” Rashford said.

“All patients suffered a combination of life-threatening injuries including internal bleeding and fractures.”

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances behind the crash and whether speed was a factor.

One resident told 9News it was not uncommon to see cars speeding in the area.

“Coming round the corner, and then coming down here, that’s a danger spot. And I don’t know what the solution is,” he said.

A woman said she was getting ready for bed when she heard the crash.

“Just an almighty boom, I was laying in bed almost asleep and just ‘boom’,” she said.
