He’s best known for his hilarious TikTok videos which take aim at the US health system.

But Will Flanary, aka Dr. Glaucomflecken, switched things up this week and delivered a brutally honest review of his Australia.

The 37-year-old physician, who is currently enjoying his first visit Down Under with his wife Kristin and their two children, revealed what he liked most about the country and the landmark that didn’t really impress him that much.

Flanary said he liked how Australians were, ‘happy to make fun of themselves and others, but in a light hearted way’.

While he was impressed by the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, he admitted he was confused after a visit to the famed Blue Mountains.

‘…they are not mountains by the way. The scenery was fabulous but it was very much a hill!’ he told News.com’s I’ve Got News For You podcast.

He also admitted to being confused by the way Aussies use the ‘sidewalk’.

‘I can’t stop bumping into people,’ he said. ‘I can’t tell which side I’m supposed to walk on.’

Meanwhile, Will described Sydney as very beautiful and ‘very clean’ while he found Adelaide ‘laid back’.

The Texas-born ophthalmologist said the highlight of his trip so far has been watching Saturday’s AFL match between Adelaide and Port Adelaide.

‘The appetite in Australia for sports that cause physical harm is really something,’ he joked, after watching the intensely physical last weekend.

‘I think I could live to 100 years and never understand cricket,’ he added.

Before coming to Australia, Will posted a TikTok video that took the mickey out of the well-known social media myths which characterised the country as a place full of exotic and lethal animals, insects and plants.

At one point in the video, Will is warned about Drop Bears – a mythical animal that lives in trees and attacks unsuspecting tourists.

‘Is there any thing in Australia that won’t kill me?,’ Will’s alter ego Dr. Glaucomflecken asks during the clip.

Will has faced some serious health challenges in the past.

After surviving testicular cancer twice, Will suffered a cardiac arrest out of the blue in 2020, and his wife, Kristin saved his life by performing CPR.

He was first diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was 25 and described the diagnosis as ‘really hard’ – especially since he was healthy and athletic at the time and didn’t see it coming – and he recalled everything ‘crashing down on him.’
