Nearly a dozen cars have been left significantly damaged in a hit-run crash in Melbourne's east overnight.

Police believe a black Holden Calais sedan crashed into 10 parked cars on Holland Road in Blackburn South about 1.40am.

Investigators have been told two people who were inside the sedan got into another vehicle and fled the scene.

The Holden Calais sedan was left abandoned in the middle of the street.

A crime scene has been established and investigations remain ongoing.
