Ford Australia issued the recall for Mustangs made between 2014 and 2017 after a manufacturing fault was discovered in the wiring harness installed in the boot lids.
The defect could cause the cars’ rear-view camera to intermittently work, as well as loss of satellite reception, and the luggage compartment lamp and luggage compartment release to not work.
“If the rear-view camera display does not continually display the rear-view image whilst reversing the vehicle, it could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to any persons located behind the vehicle,” the Department of Transport has warned.
Ford will contact the affected owners in writing to request they make an appointment at a Ford Authorised Dealership for inspection and repair of the luggage compartment lid wiring harness, free of charge.
For further information, customers can contact any Authorised Ford Dealer or Ford’s Customer Relationship Centre on 13FORD (133 673).
