One man is fighting for his life and another will face court today on an attempted murder charge after an alleged deliberate hit-and-run in Ipswich, Queensland.

Police say two men were involved in an altercation on Fernvale Road shortly before 1pm in Brassall.

One of them returned home to get his Mitsubishi Outlander, which he drove to Fernvale Road, police claim.

He allegedly deliberately struck the other man with the car, before continuing on.

A 30-year-old Brassall man was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries.

Police arrested a 26-year-old Brassall man on Caribou Drive a short time later.

He was charged with attempted murder and is due to face court today.

Police do not believe the two men were known to each other.

The investigation continues.
