The man allegedly returned a positive result to driving with cannabis in his system.

Officers said checks revealed the man had been stopped by police about two hours earlier, where he had allegedly failed a drug test and was told not to drive for 24 hours.

The man was reported for speeding and breaching his provisional licence – which he lost on the spot for six months.

His car was towed from the scene and impounded for 28 days.

The man will be summonsed to appear before the Christies Beach Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police allegedly found a small amount of cannabis inside the car, which was seized. The man was issued a cannabis expiation notice which totalled $499.

His drug-driving sample will be sent to Forensic Science SA for further analysis.
