At about 10.50am on Monday, November 6, emergency services were called to Maxwells Avenue, Ashcroft, following reports of a crash.
On arrival, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command were told a grey sedan crashed into a tree and a power pole, before two people allegedly got out of the car and fled the scene.
Two boys who were passengers in the car died at the scene.
They were aged 13 and 14.
The two men accused of fleeing the scene, Nicholas Thew and Anthony Morris, attended a police station yesterday where they were arrested.
They were taken to hospital under police guard for treatment for injuries allegedly sustained in the crash.
Thew, 27, was released from hospital and has this morning been charged with multiple offences, including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death and failing to stop and assist.

Police will also allege Thew has never been licensed to drive.
He will appear in court today.
The families of the boys released a joint statement through NSW Police yesterday expressing their bereavement.
“Both of our families are still in shock and devastated over yesterday’s tragic crash,” the families said.
“We are continuing to come to terms with the loss of our much-loved son and brother.
“We ask for privacy at this time, and we will not be conducting any media interviews while the police investigation continues.”
The investigation continues.
