An outdoor gas heater sold by Aldi at stores in multiple states and territories has been recalled over a potential safety issue.

The supermarket giant is urging anyone who purchased its Coolabah outdoor area gas heater between May 7 and May 9 to cease using it immediately and return it to an Aldi store for a full refund.

A potential hazard is caused by excess gas which may ignite due to the ignition gas escaping from the cylinder compartment due to a lack of separation from the flame source.

There is a risk of serious injury or death if the gas ignites and causes a fire.

The model number is SKYFSD-DSS6NW and can be found on the metal plate rating label.

The heater was sold at stores in NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and the ACT.

For further information, call the Aldi recall helpline on 13 25 34.
