This latest update is the first the expectant mother has posted since announcing her pregnancy last month. It would explain why Roker was suddenly absent from the morning show. As reported by The Blast, concern over his absence was due to his extended leave last year, which was caused by a life-threatening health risk of blood and lung clots.

However, this time he was away celebrating with his daughter and her husband, Wesley Laga. The date, March 14, marked the couple’s exciting announcement, as they revealed they were expecting their first child together.

The 36-year-old shared the news via an Instagram video set to a remix of Mariah Carey’s hit song, “Always Be My Baby.” The heartwarming clip was a delightful montage of different outfits, postures, and gestures.

It concluded with a sonogram of the unborn baby, showing a black-and-white image of the baby’s skull, nose, and mouth. The post was captioned, “A new adventure is about to begin ❤️🍼,” and it was met with an outpouring of love from the soon-to-be grandparents, Al Roker and his wife, Deborah Roberts.

The 68-year-old, who could not contain his excitement, wrote, “Here we go!!! So very, very happy!!!!! You guys.” He even followed up with a comment stating his preferred grandfather nickname, “Going for Pop-Pop.”

The Weather Man Credits Wife Deborah Roberts For Saving His Life

The television personality publicly expressed his deep appreciation for his wife after she played a crucial role in saving his life. The Blast noted that the renowned weatherman acknowledged that he would not have survived his recent health scare without her unwavering love and support.

Speaking with Page Six, he thanked everyone for the love and prayers he received during his difficult time. Roker also shared that he was unaware of how close he was to death during his health crisis.

This is because the ABC news journalist shielded him from the severity of his condition, which allowed him to focus solely on his recovery without the added stress of knowing. He stated:

“I guess I know it now. I didn’t know it at the time. Deborah was great at keeping all that away from me, so I thought I was doing OK, but that was great because I was able to focus on getting better.”

The TV star added that he was now fully aware of how serious the situation was and remained eternally grateful to Roberts.
