Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant‘s recent alleged gun incident has everyone talking. From NBA players to journalists to fans, the internet is buzzing over what’s going on with the NBA superstar and why he’s repeating history with a bad decision.
One person to recently speak out on Morant’s issues is ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, who explained why Morant’s trouble isn’t just trouble for him, but also on a League level.
Adrian Wojnarowski Recently Talked About Ja Morant’s Issues And Possible Consequences

“If what appears to be a gun in that video and the League finds out that this is not a doctored video, that this is not some sort of enhancement. You have to say that first because we’re assuming we know what it appeared to be with our eyes, but if that is indeed a gun in his hand, he’s facing a significant suspension to start next season,” Wojnarowski said on Get Up on ESPN.
“I think the feeling all around the League, I think with the Grizzlies, with the League office, with other teams, Adam Silver, there was some leniency in that eight-game suspension with Ja Morant, that he met with him in the League office, he took Ja Morant at his word that he was contrite, that he understood that his behavior had to change.”

He continued to explain that it wasn’t just one gun incident with Morant, but rather a string of issues that had been going on for some time.
“It had been a pattern of incidences with Ja Morant that the League had spent the better part of a year plus investigating,” he continued. “There was a pattern of really disturbing behavior that disturbed the Grizzlies, disturbed the League.”
And while Silver possibly let him off a bit easy the last time around with the eight game suspension, Wojnarowski said that’s not going to be the case this time around.

“I think Ja Morant is facing a lengthy, significant suspension to start next season, if indeed that was a firearm in his hand in that video,” he said.
“I think there’s going to be some pressure I think even from some other teams around the NBA, that this isn’t just harmful to the Memphis Grizzlies and their organization, but this is harmful on a League level and I don’t think Adam Silver is going to take this lightly.”
Other People Are Also Speaking Out On Ja Morant’s Situation

There’s been a lot of talk about Morant and the decisions he’s made in the past year. After attending a counseling program in Florida earlier this year and promising to make better choices, many were shocked that he was seen in another Instagram Live holding a gun just two months after the last incident.
This incident is causing more waves than the last time around, and his endorsements and partnerships are at risk once again. While Nike hasn’t released a statement yet, Powerade has.
ESPN reporter Michelle Steele recently tweeted, “A spokesperson for Powerade, which has a multi-year endorsement deal with Ja Morant, says ‘at this time we do not have any Ja-related content running.’ Company initially pulled ads in March after video surfaced of Morant flashing a gun.”

According to Fox News, Former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson has also spoken out on the situation while appearing on ESPN’s “Keyshawn, J-Will and Max.” He revealed that a gang member in Los Angeles isn’t too happy with Morant.
“A notable gang member of a certain very powerful gang here in L.A. didn’t like the fact that Ja was doing those things in some of his games, along with portraying himself, to a degree, as some sort of hip-hop street gangster growing up in the hood when he hasn’t,” Johnson said via Barrett Sports Media.
“Those are the sort of things that I worry about because you’re aligning yourself in a position that you know nothing about at all whatsoever – zero about. That’s where I look at the team and the league and to be able to say, ‘You’ve got to get him the necessary help that he needs, serious help.’”
