Businessman and car enthusiast Adrian Portelli will pay thousands in legal fees to fight three driving charges in court – all in order to prove a point.
Portelli fronted Sunshine Magistrates’ Court today over charges relating to a hooning incident in Diggers Rest in 2020.

Prosecutors offered to withdraw two of the three offences in court today, but Portelli’s lawyer Warwick Walsh-Buckley said they would fight them on “principle”.

He was charged with careless driving and two other driving offences for allegedly causing his car to skid.

Walsh-Buckley told the court heavy rain caused Portelli to lose control.

The 34-year-old, also known as “Mr Lambo”, told media outside court he had instructed his lawyers to not accept any deals.

“I’ve instructed the legal team not to accept any deals, and they are relatively small charges,” he said.

“It doesn’t make real … sense to fight them, but lucky I’m fortunate enough to be in a position to fight them (on) principle.

“We are willing to take it all the way, and we won’t be accepting any deals.”

The businessman is no stranger to attention after he bid $4.5 million to purchase his first-ever home on The Block’s Season 18 last November.

Portelli’s lawyer plans to enlist the help of a forensic scientist who will spend the next six months reconstructing the scene to determine if the driver was able to see the road in the bad weather.
