Frank Dimasi, the elderly man who stabbed his well-known wife to death inside their Adelaide home, has died.
A court was told of the 93-year-old’s death today.
Maria Dimasi, known affectionately as Nonna Maria, was found stabbed 76 times in December 2023.
A judge ruled her 93-year-old husband was mentally competent when he stabbed his wife of 67 years to death inside their home at Findon in the city’s western suburbs, and that the attack was not the result of dementia, which he was later diagnosed with.
He was found not guilty of murder, by reason of mental incompetence.
Frank Dimasi was held in supervised care until his death.
Mrs Dimasi was well-known for her work with community meal service, Nonna’s Cucina.
Mrs Dimasi “was incredible, absolutely incredible, she just had a heart of gold”, loved ones said.
