An active shooter opened fire on deputies in Virginia, leaving at least two injured.
Multiple law enforcement agencies rushed to an address in the rural area of Pittsylvania County on Wednesday night.
The shooter had apparently barricaded themselves inside a home, cops said.
Virginia State Police authorities told WSET they had been attempting to serve warrants at an address in Pittsville when things ‘went south’.
According to the outlet teams outside are now using loudspeakers outside and calling for whoever is inside to come out. s
A WDBJ7 reporter on the ground said there is ‘very heavy scene at the intersection of Pittsville Road and Homestead Road’.
State troopers, fire and rescue teams, the US Marshalls and a helicopter are all at the scene attempting to subdue the shooter.

In a statement, Congressman John McGuire confirmed that deputies had been shot.
‘My thoughts and prayers are with the two deputies who were shot in Pittsylvania County, as well as their families,’ McGuire said.
‘We are closely following the situation and keeping everyone affected in our hearts during this difficult time.’
Gubernatorial candidate for the state Abigail Spanberger added: ‘While we await more information, Adam and I are praying for the members of law enforcement who were shot while responding to an incident in Pittsylvania County.
‘We’re so grateful for our first responders, who run towards danger to keep Virginians safe.’
Pittsylvania County is in the southern part of the state near the border with North Carolina.
