The Morning Briefing: I'm Waiting for the Jasmine Crockett/AOC Congressional Dumb-Off

Fact check: True. Take a look at the domestic terrorism targeted Tesla dealers as evidence, even if one buys the explanation offered by Jasmine Crockett for her ridicule of Greg Abbott’s paraplegia this week.

We’ll get back to her explanation shortly, but for those who missed it, here’s the Face Of The Democrats® referring to wheelchair-bound Abbott as ‘hot wheels” this weekend:

“Wicked”? Maybe, to quote our cousin from Boston, just wicked stupid. This may sell among the die-hard progressive radicals that Crockett already has on her side, but it doesn’t fly anywhere else. It sounds bitter and infantile, neither of which acts as an aphrodisiac to the vast majority of voters who don’t see much humor in paraplegia. In fact, it looks a lot more like unbounded and irrational hatred than a reasoned opposition to Abbott’s policies. And the fact that Crockett made this crack at a Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles only adds to the hypocrisy.

Greg Abbott spoke to Sean Hannity last night to hammer that point home:

Abbott, who has used a wheelchair since 1984 when a tree fell on his back in a freak accident, brushed aside Crockett’s nasty jibe in an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” late on Tuesday.

“It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it,” he told host Sean Hannity. “It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red.”

Again … fact check: True. Democrats had no governing vision over the last two years except to paint Donald Trump as a NazifasciststinkybottomThey tried everything they could to push him out of the presidential race, including lawsuits and blatantly political prosecutions; they even succeeded in getting him convicted of felonies in Alvin Bragg’s breathtakingly corrupt prosecution over NDA payments to Stormy Daniels. Democrats had to swap Joe Biden out for Kamala Harris, and it really didn’t matter because Democrats weren’t running for anything. Their entire message and identity was “Hate Trump!”

And it blew up in their faces. Rather than learn a lesson from that, Crockett wants to double down by targeting Abbott for hatred over his wheelchair.

Even Crockett may realize how bad this looks. Yesterday, she tried retconning her remarks to claim that “Hot Wheels” referred to Abbott’s transportation choices when dealing with illegal aliens. Stop laughing — really!

“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition — I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” Crockett wrote in a post on X. “Literally, the next line I said was that he was a “hot a– Mess,” referencing his terrible policies.”

Crockett added that the outrage was “another distraction,” going on to highlight Gov. Abbott’s policy of bussing migrants who had been released from federal custody to other states.

“Finally, this is yet another distraction. Instead of obsessing over and hanging on to my every word, maybe my political foes should focus on doing the work of the people who elected us to improve their lives.”

Ahem. These same mayors — not all of whom were black, by the way — proudly declared their cities to be “sanctuaries” for illegal aliens. So what’s the problem in making sure they have an opportunity to provide said sanctuary? And by the way, why would ‘bussing’ illegals be a problem unless an influx of illegals creates problems? You can’t have it both ways; either illegal aliens ‘add to our communities’ or they create problems. And if they create problems, then why did Crockett’s party allow them free entry for four years?

And why should Texans have to bear those problems alone?

On top of that, Crockett’s gaslighting is heavier than usual on the methane. Her comments had nothing to do with immigration, and nothing to do with mayors of cities outside of Texas. She was talking about Texas streets being “hot ass” before referring to “Governor Hot Wheels.” Either Crockett has contempt for her supporters, is inordinately stupid even for a member of Congress, or employs inordinately stupid people for her PR team.

This is what results when you have nothing else to sell but hate. Because hate is stupid, and its stupidity is corrosive over time. Crockett is just an oversold demagogue out of her depth, and that’s pretty much the status of her party’s leadership these days as well.
