Aaron Rodgers comforts crying Jets fan: ‘I just want a Super Bowl’

Aaron Rodgers may have caused Jets fans anxiety this summer, but now he’s providing support.

While playing at the American Century Championship Wednesday in Lake Tahoe, Nev., Rodgers hugged a crying fan wearing his No. 8 jersey.

“I just want a Super Bowl, Aaron!” the fan exclaimed while pumping his fists. “Please!”

Rodgers walked away from the encounter with a smile.

The 40-year-old quarterback was among the panoply of celebrities at the annual golf event, with fellow NFL participants including receiver Davante Adams, quarterback Josh Allen and tight end Travis Kelce.

Rodgers’ appearance at the tournament may not usually have been notable, but attention on his whereabouts have been amplified since his unexcused absence from the Jets’ mandatory minicamp for a reported trip to Egypt.

The four-time Most Valuable Player was also spotted in attendance at UFC 303 in Las Vegas on June 29.

As it pertains to the crying fan’s emotions, they’re certainly easy to resonate with.

The Jets haven’t made the playoffs since the 2010 NFL season, marking the longest active postseason drought among major American sports teams.

Along those lines of suffering, the franchise has not reached the Super Bowl since it won Super Bowl III in 1969.

After trading for Rodgers last offseason, the Jets were projected to finally put an end to their quarterback hex and make a leap, entering the 2023 season with the seventh-best Super Bowl odds and a win total over/under of 9.5.

Instead, the spell continued, with Rodgers rupturing his Achilles on the Jets’ fourth play from scrimmage in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills.

Without the future Hall of Famer, the Jets finished 7-10 for the second straight season.

However, with the return of Rodgers and one of the better rosters in football on paper, the Jets will inch closer to the start of their 2024 season when training camp kicks off from Florham Park, N.J. on July 23.
