The Packers will be keeping at least one of their Aarons.
The Packers and Aaron Jones agreed to a restructured contract on Friday morning that will keep the star running back in Green Bay, ESPN.com reported. Jones, 28, agreed to an $11 million salary for the 2023 season, including an $8.52 million signing bonus.
There was speculation the Packers would release Jones, who still has two years remaining on his contract, this offseason to save money as he previously would have cost $20 million against the cap. Before the new agreement was reached, the Packers were $17 million over the cap.
Now, the Packers wait on Aaron Rodgers to make up his decision. The quarterback is starting a four-day darkness retreat this week and is expected to make a decision about his future shortly afterwards.
The Packers are reportedly open to trading the 39-year-old, who could also choose retirement. Rodgers has been linked to the Jets and Raiders as trade possibilities.
“I guess reach out to him and let him know that we want him here,” Jones told TMZ of Rodgers during Super Bowl week.

Jones said he had not spoken to Rodgers about the darkness retreat, but would do so in the future.
“I’ll definitely pick his brain after and learn about it,” Jones said. “He’ll come back and tell us all about it.. Everyone has their things and that’s what he does.”
The Packers have 2020 first-round NFL Draft pick Jordan Love in place to take over as starter if Rodgers was to get traded or retired.
Whoever is at quarterback will now have the Packers’ impressive running back pairing behind him. Jones ran for 1,121 yards on 213 carries last season, while A.J. Dillon amassed 770 yards on 186 carries.
The Packers finished the season 8-9 and failed to make the postseason thanks to a season-ending 20-16 loss to the Lions.
