A building company that was accused of owing thousands of dollars to clients when it collapsed has sued complaining customers for defamation.

Sunshine Coast-based builder Dynasty Property Developments Pty Ltd, trading as  Shed Beast, appointed liquidator David Stimpson from SV Partners on May 7.

The company offered clients custom-built sheds with the structural properties of a residential home.

Several clients claimed in social media posts they had been left with half-finished projects worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Kathleen Hansen is listed as both the director and secretary of the company after replacing Trent Shaw in May 2022, according to ASIC documents.

Both Ms Hansen and Mr Shaw confirmed they had taken legal action against some of their clients.

‘We acknowledge the gravity of the legal matters surrounding defamation and have taken appropriate steps to address them,’ Mr Shaw told the Courier Mail.

‘Both Kathleen and I have endured unfair representation during this ordeal.’

Several clients have been asked to pay legal costs of more than $20,000 and issued defamation concerns notices from the company’s director.

A second company that lists Ms Hansen as its director, Bawws Digital Media and Business Solutions, went into administration last week.
