Murphey’s relatives went on to discuss his time on Season 4 of the hit TLC spinoff series — during which he carried on an overseas romance with his online girlfriend, Lana — writing, “His time on the show allowed him to connect with viewers, see the world, and share his experiences with his thousands of followers on Instagram.”

The TV personality met Lana on a Ukrainian dating website. He proposed after flying to Ukraine to meet her in person — but they eventually broke up.

Murphey “will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans,” his family lamented, asking “for privacy during this difficult time.”

His loved ones explained that he “always made an effort to adopt cats and give them a good loving home,” adding that his “choice for adopting was from The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas.”

Murphey’s relatives concluded by asking his “friends and fans who want to help” and “honor his memory” to make “a donation to The Animal Foundation in his name.”
