AFL fans flocking to the MCG have been warned to expect a price hike on food and drink items.

Hot chips, pies, coffee, soft drinks, beer and water are among the products that will be impacted.

MCC chief executive Stuart Fox said the prices were reviewed in November last year, with rising cost-of-living pressures playing a factor in the increase.

“We worked hard to find the right balance between covering necessary operational costs, food inflation and wages while maintaining an accessible price point for fans,” Fox said.

Fans however have been told to expect two new bars along with a number of Mexican restaurants which will open in the MCG.

There will also be able to skip queues at two new “MCG Express outlets”. Fans can tap their card at the entry gate, walk in and pick up what they like.
