Three people were killed and nearly 40 others injured — including six kids — in a horrifying spate of mass shootings that broke out at gatherings overnight across the country.
Two people died in a shooting at a bar in a suburb of Pittsburgh while a third person was killed at a street party in Akron, Ohio, that left an additional 26 people wounded, according to local reports.
A shooting that broke out at a party in Louisville, Ky., also left six children injured, WLKY reported.
An exchange of gunfire inside the Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar in Penn Hills, Pa., early Sunday left two people dead and seven others injured, Allegheny County police said.
First responders discovered a deceased man and woman inside the bar around 3 a.m.
All of the surviving victims were taken to area hospitals, with one in critical condition, police said.
Preliminary reports indicate that “an altercation took place inside the bar, and multiple individuals opened fire,” police added. No arrests have been made.
A 27-year-old man also was killed and 26 other people injured during a shooting at a wild street party in Akron just after midnight, Capt. Michael Miller, Akron Police Department’s public information officer, said Sunday morning, according to WEWS-TV.
Before the gunfire broke out, hundreds of people were enjoying themselves at the event, where everyone was wearing white t-shirts and “women on top of vehicles were dancing,” according to the station.
Some of the victims were in critical condition while others had non-life-threatening injuries, Miller said.
Officers located dozens of bullet casings and a gun at the scene. No arrests have been made.
Another shooting near the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood in Louisville left six children injured early Sunday, too.
The victims were hurt in an “exchange of gunfire” in the parking lot of a business where a party was happening just before 1:30 a.m., police said.
The victims were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There are no suspects at this time, and no arrests have been made.
