The biggest Powerball jackpot of the year is up for grabs tonight, with hordes of Australians expected to purchase a ticket.

Tonight’s draw will see people from around the country hold their breath in hope of scooping the $100 million prize.

Only six people in Australia have won a lotto prize of that size previously.

The last time Powerball had a $100 million prize up for grabs was in November 24, with millions of Australians buying a ticket.

Sales peaked at 5.47pm on the day of the draw, when 6415 tickets were sold in a single minute.

The draw will close at 7.30pm AEST tonight.
