CHICAGO (WLS) — Five people are in custody and a man is left injured after a police-involved shooting in Humboldt Park Saturday.

Around 5 p.m., officers claim they encountered a vehicle in the 600-block of North Central Park Avenue that had allegedly fled from a traffic stop earlier.

The driver of the vehicle pulled into a garage and an armed offended allegedly exited the vehicle, according to Chicago police.

Officers claim they then followed the armed person onto the back porch of a residence.

After repeated orders to drop the weapon, an officer discharged theirs, striking the person, officials said.

A man was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, police said.

Two CPD officers were taken to Rush Medical Center for evaluation but were not shot, officials said.

Police said five people were taken into custody following the incident. Two guns were also recovered.

CPD said the specifics of the incident, including the comprehensive use of force, are being investigated by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability with the departments full cooperation.

The officers involved will be place on routine administrative duties for a period of 30 days.
