Neighbours complained about a pack of vicious dogs before they brutally attacked a toddler.

The three-year-old was rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital from a property on Paterson Street, Yatala, following the horrific attack on Wednesday night.

She remains in a serious but stable condition as of Thursday morning.

Neighbours complained about the dogs before the vicious attack, with Gold Coast City Council confirming it had received several complaints about the animals.

Neighbour Richard Macdonald said his dog became distressed when approaching the property where the ‘very aggressive’ canines resided.

‘Our dog has now got anxiety,’ he told 7News on Thursday.

‘He is terrified of them. He won’t come down the road. He’s a big dog, my dog.

‘They rush up at the fence, they’re very, very aggressive and if they got out you wouldn’t stand a chance.’

It is understood the owner of the Gold Coast property was a registered dog breeder and the grandmother of the child who was attacked.

Four dogs, including German Shepherds and a French Bull Mastiff, were taken from the home at about 7.30pm and could be heard crying from inside two council vehicles.

In a statement, a  council spokesperson said officers: ‘patrolled the area regularly with a view to ensuring compliance with local laws.’

Friend of the family Kurt Poole on Wednesday told reporters the attack had come as a surprise as he believed they were ‘good dogs’.

Mr Poole said he understood the little girl had been injured accidentally by the dogs while they had been playing amongst themselves.

He added the child’s grandmother was ‘beside herself’ over the incident.

Gold Coast City Council said multiple dogs had been seized from the property by animal management officers, and an investigation was underway.

The attack came just days after a six-year-old girl was attacked by two dogs in Woodridge, south of Brisbane, after climbing on a fence.

Emergency services were called to an Ormesby St property just after 4.30 pm on Monday.

The child was rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital in serious condition after sustaining significant abdominal, chest and shoulder injuries.

It is understood she remains in a serious but stable condition.
