A teen Woolworths worker has been attacked on the job after trying to kick a customer out of the supermarket.
The incident occurred at the Clifford Gardens Woolworths in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, just after 7pm on Friday after witnesses reported seeing the customer throwing alcohol drinks in store.
CCTV from inside the supermarket showed the 19-year-old Woolies worker then asking the customer to leave, pointing towards the exit.
Footage then showed the customer coming back to the self-service check-out area to twice hit the teen across the face before running away.
A fellow customer, who was standing in the self-service area and carefully watching on, quickly ran over to the Woolies worker to try and rescue her.
Queensland Police confirmed it was investigating the attack and said the young worker had been left with an injury to her face.
The matter was reported to Queensland Police, who can place prohibition notices on specific customers, banning them from returning to the store.
Woolworths slammed the customer’s attack on the young worker.
‘There is no place for this kind of abusive behaviour anywhere in our community,’ a Woolworth spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
‘Our team members do the very best they can to help customers, and deserve to be treated with respect on the job.
‘We don’t tolerate abuse in any circumstance and have taken steps to ban the customer from returning to the store.’
The customer is reportedly known to police, and anyone with information is urged to come forward to aid in investigations.
