A swimming teacher who was found not guilty of assaulting nine young girls – and saw other charges dismissed – has resurfaced in a gushing Instagram post by his dad.
Kyle Daniels, 24, has not been seen publicly since December when eleven charges alleging sexual touching of young girls were withdrawn in Sydney‘s Downing Centre District Court.
The Instagram post with a photo of him smiling alongside his father, James, and identical twin brother, Liam, was taken after his three year legal battle ended.
However Apprehended Violence Orders taken out by five young girls against Daniels are still in place.
They were adjourned until mid-May, but neither the prosecutor nor Mr Daniels’ lawyer Urania Zafiris could say if the AVOs would be dropped now he had been cleared.
The two trials of Daniels – who taught at the Mosman Swim Centre on Sydney’s exclusive lower north shore – ended with the jury acquitting him on some charges and then being discharged both times for being unable to reach a verdict on the others.
This marked the end of a long ordeal in the courts for Mr Daniels, who strenuously denied ever intentionally touching any student inappropriately.
His father and mother, James and Janine, steadfastly supported him through the 2020 and 2022 court hearings and now James has celebrated his son’s exoneration online.

The father of the swim coach accused then cleared of sexual touching charges against young girls has posted this photo of himself and twins sons Kyle and Liam on Manly beach in Sydney gushing that he had ‘A very happy heart. Pure happiness and love. My boys!’
In a post beside a photo of himself beaming in a beach towel with his arms around the shoulders of twin sons, Kyle and Liam, 24, James Daniels wrote on Instagram: ‘A very happy heart.
‘For all who know, this is the best Christmas this dad could have ever wished for. Pure happiness and love. My boys!’
The photo, which shows all three on Manly beach in Sydney, appears to have been uploaded to James Daniels’ Instagram page in January.
James’ and Kyle’s demeanour in the picture was a marked contrast to the stoic but grim-faced composure of the Daniels family during the protracted legal proceedings.
Kyle was arrested in March 2019 after two girls’ families raised concerns with Mosman Swim Centre management.

In the Instagram post their demeanour is in marked contrast to the stoic but grim-faced composure of the Daniels family (above James, Kyle and Janine) during the protracted legal proceedings.
The clean-cut Kyle, then aged 20, was originally accused of assaulting two girls, six and eight, during private swim lessons.
The arrest prompted further girls to come forward with allegations of touching on or near their genitals between February 2018 and February 2019.
At trial, the Crown claimed there were 23 incidents spanning 13 months which showed a pattern of behaviour in which Mr Daniels brazenly took advantage of the students under his care for his sexual gratification.
Mr Daniels’ defence argued that swim school parents lied and changed their evidence in a bid to convict him, after mistakenly believing he had abused their daughters.
A court heard that with any further allegations abandoned, Daniels will never face a third trial on sex assault charges.

Mr Daniels’ lawyer Urania Zafiris said the decision to scrap another trial was ‘entirely appropriate’ and that her client would demand prosecutors pay the cost of his defence.
‘Mr Daniels has always maintained his innocence of all charges in respect of these matters,’ she said. ‘The jury verdicts and decision to discontinue are an entirely appropriate outcome consistent with that innocence.’
Mr Daniels also told the court that while he was under arrest, some police officers referred to him as ‘a disgusting pedo’ and joked about what would happen to him in jail.
