A boy has been dragged bleeding onto the beach after he was attacked by a shark while snorkelling just metres offshore on a remote stretch of coastline in Western Australia.
The 11 year old was in waters off Kurrajong Campground at Cape Range National Park in the Shire of Exmouth, in upper-west Western Australia, when he was mauled by the shark at 3pm on Saturday.
Emergency crews from St John flew to the area and treated him on the beach before he was airlifted by the Royal Flying Doctors Service for further treatment.
He is now in in a serious but stable condition with cuts to his leg in Exmouth Hospital.

A shark alert has since been issued in the area and people have been asked to take care in the waters for the time being.
