Shocked onlookers spotted the cab as it drove down a street in Sydney

A taxi was spotted driving through the streets of an Australian city with both doors open as the driver and a passenger bickered over the fare.

The male passenger had caught a ride through the Sydney CBD on Sunday but when he wanted to get out at Oxford Street an argument erupted over the method of payment.

It is understood the argument centered on whether the payment would be in cash or on card.

One worker on a nearby construction site filmed the taxi driving by on the road with the doors open while the passenger also shared a brief clip from inside the cab.

The passenger – who had opened the doors to get out before the car drove off – can be heard saying in the clip: ‘I’m being taken away’.

‘Can you please close the door,’ the driver fires back but does not stop the car.

It is understood the passenger has made a complaint with the relevant taxi company.

Police are also aware of the incident and are investigating.
