A ‘house of horrors’ where a woman slaughtered her own mother has been snapped up as a rental just a week after hitting the market.
Jessica Camilleri killed her mum Rita at the St Clair home, in western Sydney, they shared in 2019, beheading her in the kitchen and stabbing her 100 times.
The neat three bedroom blond brick home sold in June 2020 for $680,000 with marketing material describing it as ‘truly superb’.
The home was leased shortly afterwards with a listing that highlighted renovations, ‘good sized’ bedrooms and ‘ample’ living space.

It also hinted at past trouble with a warning that the agent would disclose a ‘material fact’ about the home upon viewing.
In the first week of May 2023 the home was back on the rental market, this time for $530 a week.
The listing described it as an ‘amazing house priced to lease’.
‘Homes that are truly this superb are a rare find,’ it continued.
That rent was marginally above the median rental price for a three bedroom home at St Clair, of $520.
The property was snapped up in less than a week as renters are desperate to find a home with Sydney having a low vacancy rate of just 1.4 per cent.

A deposit was put down on the property at the first open home despite its troubled past.
Camilleri, 29, was jailed for up to 21 years for decapitating her mum.
She used at least six knives to kill her mum, 57, with four of the blades broken in the attack.

She said she suffered from mental illness and conditions including autism, bipolar disorder and anxiety.
The NSW Supreme Court heard from an expert, Professor David Greenberg, that Camilleri has a mild intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder, but also a rage disorder.

When selling or renting a home in NSW where a crime was committed, real estate agents are by law required to be upfront to potential renters.
‘Any information that may influence a decision to buy, sell, rent, or impact a property’s market value needs to be disclosed to potential buyers,’ according to the Real Estate Institute of NSW.
