A couple who represented England in shooting competitions have been found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Police have launched an investigation after Rosemary and Robert Jobson were found dead at their shooting club on Friday afternoon. Emergency services had been called over reports of a ‘concern for safety’.

Detectives at Humberside Police are thought to be treating the deaths as murder-suicide and have said they are not looking for any other suspects.

The discovery was made at the White Lodge Shooting School near Thornton Abbey, North Lincolnshire, which the couple have been running for over two decades.

Police said they were pronounced dead at the scene, and the wounds were believed to be inflicted by a shotgun stored at the premises.

Rosemary Jobson, 69, was taught how to shoot by her husband Robert, 79. Her Linkedin profile said that she won the 1998 British All Round Ladies Champion. She also won a team silver with England at the World Shooting Championships in New Zealand in 2002.

Mr Jobson represented England and had more than 50 years’ coaching experience.

White Lodge, near Grimsby, offered clay shooting facilities, as well as tuition in the sport.

Mrs Jobson wrote on her LinkedIn page: ‘Over the years, we have branched out to include corporate entertainment, as well as clay shooting tuition. We are a relaxed, friendly establishment where we can give clients “the personal touch” and an enjoyable day out.’

Senior Investigating Officer, Chief Inspector Al Curtis, from our Major Crime Team said: ‘Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish the circumstances of the man and woman’s death.

‘A homicide investigation has commenced, and both deaths are being treated as suspicious at this time. We can confirm we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this enquiry.’

He added: ‘We would like to reassure local residents there is no risk to the wider public and that we will be conducting house to house visits to provide reassurance.’
