Her final text contained just a single word, but it haunts Jean Hanlon's (pictured) family to this day. 'Help', the message read.

A man allegedly stabbed to death in his unit was a disabled pensioner who was almost killed in an unrelated knife attack 10 years earlier.

Terry Hogan, 63, died in his home on Mine Street in the Ipswich suburb of Redbank, in south-east Queensland, on Saturday night.

Emergency services were called at around 10.25pm after neighbours heard screams coming from a property, but paramedics were unable to revive Mr Hogan.

His daughter, Eden King, said she and her sister ‘are trying to raise funds so we can lay our father to rest’.

‘We miss him so much, he was a good man,’ Ms King wrote on the GoFundMe page she has set up, titled ‘Beloved father and grandfather taken too soon’.

Mr Hogan ‘was a single father who raised myself and my sister by himself. He was a disabled pensioner who had trouble walking,’ she said.

Ms King also revealed that her father had survived a knife attack a decade earlier.

‘About 10 years ago give or take our father was stabbed and almost lost his life then. I never thought it would happen again but be 1000 times worse.’

She has started the fundraiser because she and her sister ‘are just trying to give my father a beautiful send off and are desperately trying to get him buried’.

Kane Charles Bell, 28, remains in custody after being found on the premises on Saturday night.

The Boronia Heights man has been charged with one count each of murder, threatening violence and possess dangerous drugs (methamphetamine).

Mr Bell’s lawyer Michael Gatenby told the court on Monday there were ‘real concerns’ about his client’s mental health.

The matter has been adjourned to a committal call-over on July 14.

Police will allege three adults, the two men and a woman, were inside a unit when an altercation broke out.

A four-year-old child was also reportedly inside the unit at the time.

Detective Inspector David Briese said the woman and child were not harmed.

The police said the two men were ‘known to each other’.

Neighbour Charlie Ridgeway Jr said he heard a disturbance before police arrived at the unit.

‘Pretty much what we heard last night was arguments in the flats, we heard yelling,’ he told the Courier Mail.

‘We heard a big scream right after the yelling, like a grown man scream. About 20 minutes later, 20 cop cars were here.’

Mr Ridgeway said the area had changed for the worse since a block of flats were built two years ago.
