The strangling occurred in January on board a Whitman Middle School bus in Fairfax County, Virginia

A Virginia mother has shared horrifying footage online showing the moment her 12-year-old son was strangled and bullied by an older girl on a school bus.

In the one minute-long video, that mother Taylor Brock posted on Monday, her son can be seen being hit by the girl and grabbed by the mouth.

The pair have a brief exchange when the girl begins choking the boy. Both are in the seventh grade at Whitman Middle School. His mother said the girl has a 60 pound weight advantage on her son.

‘My son came home crying, and I saw the marks on his neck. It breaks my heart that there are all these kids on the bus and not one decided to stand up.’

Now Brock says that a protective order she had issued by a Fairfax County judge against the girl following the attack is being ignored by teachers as her son regularly encounters his tormentor in school.

Prior January’s incident, Brock said that her son has been subjected to bullying from the girl before and that she even stole from him.

The only reprimand that the girl is faced with on the bus comes when the driver announces that children are not allowed to switch seats.

Brock also said that her son’s two friends who were on board the bus were scared to come forward because of a fear of become bullying victims. She also said that no parents were told about the incident.

The boy’s mother said that despite the girl being instructed to walk in a different hallway, following a period when she was suspended for the incident, he still sees her and even has to share his lunch hour with her.

‘This isn’t something that’s going away for him,’ Brock wrote on her blog. ‘She gets suspended and goes back to school. It doesn’t seem like a fair trade. My son is still not protected. If other children are coming forward and they don’t have video, then there’s no hope for them because I have video and still nothing.’

She said that the judge who issued the restraining order was even confused as to why the bully had not been expelled from school.

Brock also posted photos showing the bright red marks left on her son’s neck following the choking.

In interview with WJLA, Brock said that as soon as she saw the video the went to the school and showed officials while also showing the marks on her son’s neck. After that, the panicked mother went straight to the police to file charges.

‘All of this evidence, and still, only suspension. still putting someone who harmed my child in the same vicinity and not abiding by the protection order or anything I’ve put in place,’ Brock told the station.

‘The example that you’re setting for other students that see her come back after strangling somebody. Also, what justice is that for my son? He gets traumatized for life and she gets suspension? She should be expelled,’ she added.

The Colorado-native said that her family are a military family who have only lived in the area for a year.

Brock also says that her son will be switching schools and is seeking therapy over the trauma of the incident.

Brock wrote on her blog: ‘Something needs to change. This isn’t just my child’s life on the line, but every child that has been harmed and humiliated where the school did nothing. School’s need to be held accountable for inadequately protecting our children.’

In the United States, one out of every five school students reports being bullied, the National Center for Educational Statistics says. While 41 percent of those who are bullied believe that it will happen again. Only five percent of bullying instances are physical in nature.
