It’s been a long time, but the time is running out: we’ll be taking a look at Nintendo’s upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie. The animated feature was officially announced in 2018 as a collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment, the animation studio behind Minions, and today the two companies are releasing the first trailer.

We’ve since learned a few details, especially about the cast, which includes Jack Black as Bowser, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and most controversially Mario’s Chris Pratt. Pratt described his rendition of the legendary plumber’s voice as “unlike anything you’ve ever heard in the Mario universe.”

We’ll find out what that means before the film premieres on April 7.
Nintendo is throwing a punch in the trailer, as it should, and is hosting a Nintendo Direct dedicated to the film. (The company says “no game information will be shown” during the event.) It will air on YouTube on October 6 at 4:05 p.m. ET, and you can also check it out in the video embedded at the top of this article.
