Sydney commuters are suffering through traffic chaos as a multi-car crash blocks the Lane Cove Tunnel citybound. 

Emergency services were called to the eastbound tunnel entrance about 9am Monday and all lanes towards the city are closed. 

Six people involved in the crash were assessed at the scene by paramedics with one being transported to hospital to receive further treatment for minor injuries.

Live Traffic NSW said the crash on the M2 was causing significant delays and urged drivers to use diversions including Epping Rd. 

The pile up is understood to involve six vehicles, at least two of which are large trucks. 

A clean up is underway which is expected to last well into mid-morning.
