Angel Lynn, 21, was left paralysed and unable to eat, walk or talk by herself following the 2020 ordeal on the A6 in Leicestershire at the hands of Chay Bowskill

Heartbreaking before and after pictures show how much the life of a 21-year-old has changed after suffering catastrophic brain injuries from falling out of a moving van at 60mph after being kidnapped by her evil boyfriend.

The story of 21-year-old Angel Lynn is being made into a TV documentary.

She suffered life-changing brain damage following the ordeal in 2020.

But her mum, Nikki Lyn, says she is making steady progress in her recovery and is undergoing rehabilitative treatments. She now requires round-the-clock care.

The 21-year-old was left paralysed and unable to eat, walk or talk by herself after the incident A6 in Leicestershire at the hands of Chay Bowskill.

Producers at Wonderhood Studios have said the programme will aim to give a voice to those who fall victim to coercive control.

The Channel 4 documentary will show text messages, social media posts, photos and calls between Angel and Bowskill to reveal the toxic relationship before the near-fatal accident.

Nearing the end of the relationship, Bowskill became increasingly threatening and Angel began to withdraw before attempting to leave him.

Angel’s parents Nikki and Paddy, other family members and closest friends will also appear on the show to discuss the traumatic experience.

In September last year Angel’s mother said she was warned her daughter’s injuries were fatal but she was starting to regain movement on her left side and relearn how to swallow.

At the time Mrs Lynn told BBC Radio Leicester: ‘She was really, really badly injured. They said she wouldn’t survive the night and that she wasn’t going to wake up at all. Now she’s getting lots of physio. She’s having speech and language therapy.

‘She is learning how to swallow again, and then she won’t need PEG [percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy] feeding because she doesn’t eat.

‘She is starting to move her left side very slightly and she’s got a communication machine.

‘She is communicating in little bits but she still gets really tired. It is nice that she understands everything you’re saying to her.’

The documentary will follow Angel’s rehabilitation and recovery, according to The Mirror.

Her family hope that soon she might be able to recount what happened in the run-up to Bowskill kidnapping her.

CCTV caught the moment Angel was forced into a van by Bowskill and his accomplice Rocco Sansome, in Rothley, Leicestershire, in September 2020 after an argument.

She then fell out of the vehicle, which was driven by Sansome, as it travelled at 60mph, before she was found by horrified members of the public.

In January 2022, Bowskill was handed a seven-and-a-half-year sentence after being found guilty of kidnap, coercive and controlling behaviour, and perverting the course of justice, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.

His sentence was then nearly doubled after senior judges at the Court of Appeal concluded his original term for the kidnap was not long enough and handed him four-and-a-half more years.

Sansome received 21 months. Bowkill’s sentence was later increased to 12 years, although Sansome’s was not changed.

Bowskill, of Syston, Leicestershire, was also convicted of coercive and controlling behaviour and perverting the course of justice.

He was cleared of causing grievous bodily harm after it became unclear how Angel had left the van.

Channel 4’s Will Rowson, who commissioned Kidnapped: The Angel Lynn Story, said Angel and her family had been ‘so ‘brave’ in coming forward to share their traumtic experience and he hoped the programme will ‘help others’.

Wonderhood Studios boss Samantha Anstiss said: ‘One woman is killed every three days in the UK as a result of domestic abuse so, sadly, Angel’s story will be familiar to many.’
