A British woman was reportedly raped by a hotel bartender while she was staying with friends on the Greek island of Corfu.
The young woman, 21, told police that a member of hotel staff raped her last Sunday after luring her back to his apartment in the coastal town of Agios Georgios.
The suspect – identified as a 23-year-old Albanian – was reportedly speaking to the woman by the pool when he suggested that they meet up later outside the hotel, Greece‘s ERT news agency said.
The two met up later in the day and the bartender reportedly convinced her to follow him back to his home so he could get ready.
It was at this point that the man allegedly raped her.

The man allegedly told her he would first take a bath before they went out for a drink together.
The British woman says she tried to defend herself and push him away as the man raped her.

The woman told police that she then left the man’s apartment and returned to her hotel.
She then met up with the friends that she was staying with and told them of the attack.
It was at this point that she called the European emergency number on 112 and reported the alleged assault.
It was reported the woman was able to show officials the bartender’s Instagram to help identify the alleged assailant.

The island’s police are continuing to search for the man. Officials have attended his home the hotel where he worked but are yet to track him down.
Police have confirmed that the investigation into the alleged rape is ongoing.
