A British tourist had died after ‘being electrocuted by a live wire which he grabbed while taking a photo near a construction site’ on holiday in India.

Former pub landlord Ivan Brown, 71, grabbed the wire when he lost his balance while taking pictures in a tourist spot, his family confirmed.

Mr Brown, who ran one of Norwich’s most popular sports bars – The Murderers pub – for almost 40 years, died on Sunday.

Speaking about coming to terms with the loss of Mr Brown, his family told ITV News Anglia: ‘We are just all absolutely distraught and heartbroken that we have lost the heart and soul of our family.’

Mr Brown was believed to have been visiting the northern state of Himachal Pradesh with a friend as part of a two-month trip around India.
