Jean-Paul Getty Sr. was born on December 15, 1892, in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the U.S. He was an American-born British Petroleum industrialist who founded the Getty Oil Company. The heir to his 5 billion net worth, John Gilbert Getty, his grandson died a mysterious death in San Antonio, Texas. After the death of John, he was survived by Ivy Getty, Peter, Billy his other brothers, and his father, Gordon.

Getty’s father, George was a pioneer oilman and the name of his mother was Sarah Catherine McPherson Risher. He attended the Garfield School and Havard Military school at age 14 and Polytechnic High School where was nicknamed ” Dictionary Getty” because he liked reading.
