Mahalia Jackson born Mahala Jackson was an American gospel singer and was one of the most influential vocalists of her generation in the 20th century. She amassed a lot of wealth with her singing talent and all was inherited by Katherine Jackson, 20% of her wealth went to charities. She had no biological child.

Jackson was born on October 26, 1911, in New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S. and she died of a heart seizure at age 60 on January 27, 1972, at Evergreen Park, Illinois, U.S.

The family of Jackson has devoted Christians who attended the Baptist church and they strictly observed Sabbath day and also attended all church activities.

Mahalia won 3 Grammy Award in her entire career as a gospel singer in the years 1961, 1962, and 1976.

She was inducted into several Hall of Fames due to her beautiful talent. Jackson got into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1978, she was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1988, and in the year 1997, she was privileged to be part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and few other.
