Veteran Nollywood actor, Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, has passed away after a brief illness. He was 52 years old.
Obi died on Monday, May 7, 2023 at a hospital in Jos, the capital of Plateau State. He had been battling an undisclosed illness for several months.
A source close to the family confirmed the actor’s death to The Street Journal. The source said Obi had been in and out of the hospital for treatment in recent months.

Obi was born in Imo State in 1971. He began his acting career in the early 1990s and quickly became one of the most popular actors in Nigeria. He starred in a number of hit movies, including “Living in Bondage,” “Tears of the King,” and “Most Wanted.”
Obi’s death is a major loss to the Nigerian film industry. He was a talented actor who will be remembered for his many memorable roles.
The cause of Obi’s death has not been released. His family is yet to release a statement on his death.
Obi is survived by his wife and two children.
