Jasmine Loo’s Age, Nationality, Conviction, Family & More [inside details]; As the world grapples with the 1MDB scandal, Malaysian police have arrested an associate of Low Taek Jho (Jho Low), Jasmine Loo Ai Swan. Loo is said to be close with Low, having attended his trial last May as part of an advisory role. She was detained last Friday at Dang Wangi headquarters in Kuala Lumpur before her lawyer informed authorities she would cooperate fully in her investigation of criminal breach of trust case against Jho Low’s former boss Low Taek Jho (Jho Low). Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail informed reporters that 49-year old Jasmine Loo is willingly cooperate fully in her investigation against Low as part of her lawyer having informed authorities she wishes to help authorities by working closely together.
Reports indicate that Loo was involved in illegally siphoning off millions of dollars from 1MDB into her personal bank accounts, totalling an estimated sum of around $16 million. She fled Malaysia shortly before an election campaign where Najib Razak was ousted due to allegations of corruption and was later ousted from power on an anti-corruption platform.
Since then, arrest warrants have been issued against her and Low along with fellow 1MDB officials Casey Tang Keng Chee and Geh Choh Heng for money laundering charges stemming from transactions between Low’s Good Star Ltd and 1MDB predecessor Terengganu Investment Authority.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court recently ordered that two luxury cars and RM22,600 belonging to Loo be forfeited to the government under Section 56 of Malaysia’s Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. A judge also allowed an application from OCBC Bank (M) Bhd that sought to claim Loo’s Mont Kiara condominium that had also been taken by law enforcement officials earlier this year.

Jasmine Loo personal life and family
Loo’s personal life remains mostly unknown, although she has been linked with US celebrities such as singer Alicia Keys. Additionally, Loo is thought to have had an affair with Tim Leissner (former CEO of Goldman Sachs).

Despite controversy surrounding them, the couple have managed to maintain a low-key relationship and keep it private. According to sources, however, they reportedly share a son who currently attends Princeton University.

Police have yet to announce the details of Loo’s arrest; however, they have identified additional matters they will look into regarding her. These include her possible involvement in multibillion-dollar fraud schemes as well as whether funds stolen from 1MDB funds for personal gain were utilized elsewhere.
Amer Hamzah Arshad and Edmund Bon, Loo’s lawyers, released a joint statement in which they pledged that Loo would remain committed to cooperating fully with law enforcement investigations of the 1MDB scandal. Their client, they noted, always considered Malaysia home, so she will share all she knows regarding her time away from Malaysia as soon as it’s appropriate. In addition, they are working to facilitate and expedite Loo’s return home as quickly as possible; and expressed hope at seeing her reunited with her family upon her return home.
