In 2016, he joined Real Madrid Castilla and was promoted to the main team in 2017. He was loaned out to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund for two years, winning the DFL Supercup in 2019.
In 2020, Hakimi agreed to terms with Serie A club Inter Milan for a rumored sum of €40 million. Paris Saint-Germain reportedly paid €60 million to sign him in 2021.
Born in Spain to parents from Morocco, Hakimi represented Morocco at several youth levels. He was named to Morocco’s squads for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups, as well as the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
