Vanessa Bryant to receive around $29 million over Kobe Bryant crash photos

Vanessa Bryant has finally agreed to settle her outstanding issues with Los Angeles County for a nearly $29 million settlement. It came six months after she won the lawsuit against the officials.

Here is everything you need to know.

The L.A. County to pay nearly $29 million settlement to Vanessa Bryant

Vanessa Bryant has decided to shut down the book on her legal battle against Los Angeles County.

Moreover, the court documents reveal that Bryant and the county officials, ‘have entered into a settlement agreement resolving the claims asserted by Vanessa Bryant.’

For the unversed, Bryant was awarded $16 million previously when the jury ruled out that her privacy was invaded when authorities shared unauthorized images from the 2020 helicopter crash.

In addition, the accident ended up taking the lives of her husband Kobe Bryant, and their 13-year-old daughter Gianna ‘Gigi’ Bryant.

Meanwhile, the Bryant family will seemingly receive around $29 million as a part of the settlement.

Mira Hashmall, the lead trial attorney for the county in the lawsuit, talked to NBC News about the settlement.

She said, ‘We believe the settlement approved by the Board in the Bryant case is fair and reasonable.’

Additionally, she continued, ‘The $28,850,000 settlement includes the verdict awarded by the federal jury in August 2022, and further resolves all outstanding issues related to pending legal claims in state court.’

Hashmall mentioned, ‘This settlement now concludes all County-related litigation related to the tragic January 2020 helicopter crash. We hope Ms. Bryant and her children continue to heal from their loss.’

Vanessa Bryant filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles County in 2020

Vanessa Bryant took out a lawsuit against Los Angeles County in September 2020 eight months following the unfortunate accident.

In addition, the 40-year-old businesswoman and philanthropist accused the officials of invasion of privacy and negligence.

Besides that, Bryant along with the other relatives of her late husband and daughter, suffered emotional distress after the alleged photo of the crash site went viral on the internet.

Furthermore, during the testimony, it was revealed that the cops and firefighters supposedly shared the photos with co-workers, family, and friends.

Bryant took the stand in the court last year where she explained, ‘I never had a panic attack before this. I don’t ever want to see my babies in that way.’

She further said that she did not want her children to ever see the pictures.

Bryant added, ‘I live in fear every day. All you want to do is protect your babies.’
