Snoop Dogg announces Death Row Records Catalog return to streaming platforms

Snoop Dogg recently shared that the iconic Death Row Records catalog has returned to streaming platforms owing to his deal with former Apple executive Larry Jackson.

Here is everything you need to know.

SnoopDogg celebrates the Death Row Records catalog’s return to streamers.

Snoop Dogg made the decision to pull Death Row projects from streaming services a little over a year after he secured the ownership of the label.

Moreover, the 51-year-old rapper has joined hands with Apple global creative director Larry Jackson and the new media company Gamma which features artists such as Usher and Rick Ross.

In addition, Dogg took to his official social media accounts to tease the return of the catalog on 9th March Thursday.

He wrote, ‘We heard you. The time has come. Death Row Records catalog is back streaming everywhere tonight at 9 pm PST.’

Subsequently, the Doggfather went live on Instagram right around the time when Death Row Records was scheduled to drop again.

During the live show, he said, ‘Death Row Records is about to be back live on streaming platforms, I know y’all been waiting on it. It’s back, I had to make sure it was right before I put it back up.’

He concluded by mentioning, ‘But everything will be back up for your streaming pleasures for you to enjoy. Sincerely, from yours truly, Big Snoop Dogg.’

Snoop Dogg reveals the reason why he pulled the Death Row Records

Snoop Dogg opened up about the real reason behind pulling the iconic Death Row library during an interview on Drink Champs last April.

He revealed, ‘First thing I did was snatch all the music off those platforms traditionally known to people because those platforms don’t pay. And those platforms get millions of millions of streams, and nobody gets paid other than the record labels.’

The West Coast icon added, ‘So what I wanted to do is snatch my music off, create a platform similar to Amazon, Netflix, Hulu. It’ll be a Death Row app, and the music, in the meantime, will live in the metaverse.’

Back in 1991, Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The D.O.C., and Dick Griffey co-founded Death Row. However, Dogg acquired it from MNRK Music Group in February 2022.

Besides that, the latest records in Death Row will include Dr. Dre’s The Chronic (1992), Snoop’s Doggystyle (1993), The Doggfather (1996), and Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told (1998) among many others.
