Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has provided a worrying update on Ayden Heaven’s injury after Leicester City clash.
Recall the youngster was stretchered off in his first Premier League start against Leicester City on Sunday night.
The 18-year-old defender suffered a serious setback when his foot got caught under Patson Daka’s body during the match that ended 3-0 in favour of United.
Speaking after the match, Amorim revealed that Heaven was in significant distress and unable to articulate the extent of his injury.
“It’s hard to understand because when he was on the ground, he could not speak,” Amorim said. “He’s so young, it’s hard to know what he’s feeling. We’ll see next week.”
Heaven, who joined from Arsenal in January, had been impressive in his brief United career, including a standout display against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
His absence further deepens United’s defensive crisis, with Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, and Luke Shaw already sidelined.
United now have just three fit senior defenders—Victor Lindelof, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.
As a result, Amorim handed 18-year-old Harry Amass his senior debut late in the match.
United will assess Heaven’s condition next week, with the club hoping to recover key players before their next match against Nottingham Forest on April 1.
April will be a crucial month for United as they face Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals and host Manchester City in the Premier League.
