Born on June 5, 1953, she founded the production company Amblin Entertainment in 1981 with Steven Spielberg and her future husband, Frank Marshall.
Kennedy’s remarkable career as a producer began with the iconic E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982), directed by Spielberg. She later collaborated with Spielberg on the hugely successful Jurassic Park franchise, with the first two films being among the highest-grossing films of the 1990s.
In 1992, Kennedy and Marshall jointly founded The Kennedy/Marshall Company. Following the 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm by The Walt Disney Company, Kennedy assumed the role of president on October 30 of that year as part of a monumental $4.2 billion deal.
During her tenure as president of Lucasfilm, Kennedy oversaw the development, production and release of many Star Wars projects, including the highly anticipated sequels to the trilogy. She has also produced standalone Star Wars films such as Rogue One (2016) and Solo (2018).
