Kim previously told the LPGA, “My first memories of playing golf were not the best. In fact, when I labeled my father, I didn’t like it very much. I’d much rather be in the library, out with friends, or at home. But for whatever reason, my father saw something in me when I rocked up at the range.
“Today I’m glad he did it.
“Over time, disdain turned to neutrality, which turned to interest, and finally to love. It’s funny looking back on it now. If it wasn’t for my dad, my life would be completely different. Undoubtedly.
“It’s one of the many things I love about him. He believed in me before I believed in myself.
“A lot has changed since those early days, but my father’s love and support has not. Even this past year, he wanted to be with me during my entire rookie year on The Epson Tour.
“But Australia is not just a quick drive away.
“He stayed with me at the end of the season and honestly, I needed him. His support and encouragement helped me get into the top 10 and crack my card. Without him, none of this would be possible,” she added.
